Heat your pool with solar heatUse your solar heater for pool heating and no longer fear opening your utility bill. |
It's simple to use solar energy to heat your poolIf you've got the space for a large number of collectors then you can take full advantage of it and use that space to heat your pool. FREEDOM WON solar thermal systems integrate easily with industry-standard pool heat exchangers, so a few simple plumbing connections are all it takes to start heating your pool with solar. The FREEDOM WON pump station automatically heats the pool whenever the sun shines, so you can take full advantage of sunny days.
|
When choosing a FREEDOM WON system for domestic water heating, each 30-tube collector provides approximately 35,200 BTUs per day for pool heating, which is enough to heat around 8,800 gal of pool water during the summer, or year-round if the pool is indoors. Always remember to insulate your pool heat exchanger to minimize heat loss.
Options for solar heating your pool
Stainless steel pool heat exchangerFor most pools a standard stainless steel heat exchanger will allow you to start heating your pool with your solar heat. The only exception is people with salt water pools who'll do better with a titanium heat exchanger.
|
Titanium pool heat exchangerIf you've eschewed a chlorine pool in favour of a salt water pool then you'll want to make sure you fork out the extra cash for a titanium heat exchanger. Salt water will corrode through a stainless steel heat exchanger in as little as a few months.

Ways to integrate pool heating with other solar heating applications
Most people don't want to use their solar heater only for heating their pool. Below are the most common methods for integrating FREEDOM WON systems for both pool heating and either space heating or domestic water heating.
Domestic water heating and pool heatingCombining pool heating with domestic water heating is a common method for integrating solar pool heating. The solar heated transfer fluid first flows through the hot water tank holding the domestic water before flowing through the pool heat exchanger with any heat leftover.
An advantage of combining heating applications this way is that you can design your system so that you don't need a backup water heater for your domestic water because the size of the system almost guarantees that you'll have enough heat for your domestic water. |
Space heating and pool heating

Domestic water heating, space heating, and pool heatingIf you've got the space you can get most of your heat from the sun. As with the other combinations, you can forgo the backup water heater and space heater because the large number of collectors will provide ample heat year round.
